SPEED SKATING CLUB

Coach- Jorge Botero, World Champion

The Universal Skating Center speed team is coached by World Champion Speed Skater Jorge Botero.  
We welcome both beginner skaters, and those with competition experience.

Practice is currently offered on Wednesdays (5-6:30pm) and Sundays (10:30am-1pm). No practice fees are currently being charged for those who want to sample speed skating.  We look forward to meeting you... all you have to do is grab your skates, grab your helmet, and show up!

Speed Skating is a non-contact sport requiring skaters to display their skills to maneuver cleanly through the pack and into winning position.  Regardless of age, speed skaters share a determination to race as fast as possible in both "sprints" and long distances.

Indoor speed skating uses a 100 meter oval track for individual and relay events; distances and divisions are determined by age.
Outdoor speed skating is the recognized international standard.  Races usually take place on a closed loop track or closed road course.

SKATING CLASSES
Saturday 8:30am-9:00am
SUPER SKATERS (Advanced):  
Strengthening basic skills, turtle tucks, shoot the duck, 
and beginning backward skating skills.

Saturday 9:00am-9:45am
PENGUINS (Beginners):  
Safety techniques, correct skating posture, balancing, how to fall/roll.

STARS (Intermediate):
Beginning techniques, starting and stopping, 
and other basic skating skills.

$6 per class
Kids & Parents Welcome!
Classes are taught by USA CERTIFIED INSTRUCTORS and 
conducted "drop-in" style, so you can participate at your leisure 
on any Saturdays you select, with no set weekly commitment.

ADDED BONUS:
Skate rental included with your paid class!
Pay for your class, and the TINY TOT session is included (for those 10 and younger)!
FREE coffee and wi-fi for parents during class time!
